Recently I’ve had the opportunity to go for a group lesson with a different coach (organized by my coach as a supplement for some of his students). While the focus was mainly on just the basic steps without the hip or arm actions, this coach was intent on us doing everything to the maximum.
Maximum: meaning our legs must fully extended to its limits, and our big toe using the floor to push our body weight right to the end.
Similar to the reason why we must practice to our maximum stamina before a competition, doing our actions to the maximum each and every time will ensure that we’ll be able to deliver quality action into our dance steps on command. Not by a lucky shot. On command at will.
That is the point of being a better dancer: delivery of quality movements in each step.
